Teddy & Comet the Lurchers – Reactive Dog Photography in Nottinghamshire

Rescue dogs come with stories. When I met Teddy and Comet, two beautiful lurchers with sensitive souls, I knew this session needed to be about peace, patience, and presence.

Their humans chose a stunning National Trust site in Nottinghamshire, carefully picked to give these boys a calm, enriching experience—free from the everyday sounds and stresses that can make outings difficult, especially for Teddy.

Teddy is a classic sensitive soul. Startled by loud noises and nervous around traffic, he thrives in quieter, more natural spaces. This session was tailored around keeping him calm and secure, giving him room to relax and explore without pressure

With dogs like Teddy—who have specific fears and sensitivities—my sessions are always designed around reducing stress and building confidence. We avoided paths near busy car parks, kept things low-key, and used long lenses to capture natural moments without needing to intrude.

We worked at their pace, with lots of breaks, and checked in throughout. That’s how you get the moments that matter—not with commands or pressure, but with space and empathy.

Sessions like this are exactly why I specialise in working with anxious, reactive, or rescue dogs. With the right location, approach, and mindset, we can create something truly beautiful—something that honours your dog exactly as they are.

Whether your dog struggles with the world or simply needs space to be themselves, I promise to meet them there.
