Honey, Milo & Tia - Multi-Dog Photography at Hatfield Moors, Yorkshire

Dog photography is never a one-size-fits-all experience—especially when you're working with multiple dogs, each with their own quirks and preferences. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing three very different (but equally charming) dogs—Honey the Spaniel, Milo the mixed breed, and Tia the Yorkshire Terrier—in the serene setting of Hatfield Moors, South Yorkshire.

While these three companions generally get along well, they made it clear from the start that posing together wasn’t really their style. Instead, they each wanted to explore, sniff, and enjoy the session on their own terms. That’s exactly what I specialise in—natural, stress-free dog photography that honours each dog’s personality.

Hatfield Moors offered the perfect moorland landscape for this kind of shoot—open skies, winding trails, and beautiful long grasses that created soft, textured backgrounds. The neutral tones and natural light worked beautifully to highlight each dog’s unique features without distraction.

The open environment gave Honey, Milo, and Tia space to move freely and comfortably. Unlike a woodland, the expansive views and soft terrain of the moor meant fewer visual interruptions and more opportunities to capture genuine, candid moments.

While the dogs coexisted happily, getting all three to pose together was a bit like herding squirrels—each one wanted to do their own thing! Rather than force an unnatural group shot, I photographed them individually in the same location and lighting setup, then created a composite group portrait in post-production.

The final image shows Honey, Milo, and Tia sitting “together” in harmony—but behind the scenes, each one had their own moment without the stress of holding still or being distracted by their companions.

Composite photography is a fantastic option for multi-dog families, especially when your pups are more comfortable apart or have very different personalities. It’s seamless, natural-looking, and ensures each dog is captured at their best.

Whether your dogs love posing together or prefer solo adventures, I’ll work with their individual needs to deliver a collection of images that tell your story.
