Cybi the Cypriot Rescue – Anxious Dog Photography in the peak district
Some sessions stay with you—and Cybi’s Peak District adventure is one I’ll never forget. A reactive Cypriot rescue, Cybi has overcome huge hurdles to get where she is today, thanks to the incredible partnership she shares with her human, Emily.
Together, we tackled a sunrise mega-adventure through three breathtaking Peak District locations—Black Rock, Lumsdale Waterfall, and Owler Tor—starting before the rest of the world even stirred. As part of my Ambassador Team, Cybi and Emily are more than clients—they’re shining examples of what patient, compassionate dog ownership can achieve.
Cybi was rescued from Cyprus and, like many foreign rescues, brought with her a lot of emotional baggage. She’s wary of strangers, unsure of new environments, and can be easily overwhelmed—especially when things move too fast.
But with Emily’s trust and a carefully planned session that respected Cybi’s pace and space, we were able to create something truly magical.
Our day began in the pre-dawn stillness at Black Rock, where dramatic cliffs overlook rolling hills. The early start meant we had the landscape almost entirely to ourselves—a dream for a reactive dog who needs space.
As the first golden light hit the horizon, Cybi stood tall on the rock formations, backlit by the sunrise, ears perked, with Emily by her side. This was the perfect start to a day full of adventure.
Next stop: the moss-covered ruins and cascading waters of Lumsdale, a secluded, storybook-like spot that feels like stepping into another world. We took things slowly here, allowing Cybi to explore at her own pace. She navigated winding steps and bubbling water with confidence.
By the time we reached Owler Tor, the sun was climbing, with the wind! The sweeping views and grey rock formations made an incredible contrast to Cybi’s, and she gave us some power poses among the rocks.
Shoutout to My Ambassador Team
Cybi and Emily are part of my ambassador team—a group of humans and dogs who represent the heart of what I do. They help show the world that dog photography isn’t just for “easy” dogs. It’s for every dog, especially the ones with stories like Cybi’s.
This session was a reminder of what’s possible when we meet dogs where they are, and honour who they are. I couldn’t be prouder of this pair.
