Mango the Cavalier & Poppy the Labradoodle – Dog Photography in North Yorkshire

Some sessions just feel like summer. That soft, warm light, a gentle breeze through the meadow, and dogs happily trotting along without a care in the world. That’s exactly what we had when I met Mango the Cavalier and Poppy the Labradoodle for their photography experience at Bagshaw Museum in West Yorkshire.

We’d planned an evening session to avoid the harsh midday sun and the busy crowds, which meant we were treated to the most gorgeous golden light filtering through the trees and glowing across the wild grasses. The dogs were relaxed, the pace was easy, and it felt like we had the place almost to ourselves.

The location was such a great choice for them both. The grounds around Bagshaw Museum offer a lovely mix—woodland paths, open grassy areas, and the museum building itself, which we used as a striking backdrop for a few portraits. It gave us so many options to reflect the dogs’ different personalities, and by the end of the session, they’d both fully embraced the experience.

Photographing two dogs can be a little more unpredictable than one, especially when they’re not used to posing together—but Mango and Poppy had such a natural ease between them.

This session was everything I love about dog photography: relaxed, unforced, and full of connection. It was about letting the dogs be themselves in a beautiful space, and capturing the moment in time. Mango and Poppy made it so easy.

If you’re thinking about booking a session for your own dog (or dogs!), especially in a scenic spot like Bagshaw Museum, I’d love to help create something special for you. Whether it’s golden hour magic or quiet woodland calm, we’ll tailor everything around your dog’s needs and personality—for photos that feel honest, joyful, and completely them.
